Zodiac Profile: Aquarius

So I'm sure you've heard the stories about Aquarius people. They're fun-loving,  airy, a bit out of their minds.... Yeah, well, that stuff is all true! Well at least a little bit.

There are two kinds of Aquarians in the world: the loud, sociable, party animal type, and the reserved, shy but sweet type. I've even seen a few hybrids. It doesn't really matter though, because beneath that they're fundamentally the same. Both are exceptionally smart, funny, big-hearted (perhaps to a fault) humanitarians.

Both are also likely to have a large circle of what others might call friends, perhaps even the Aquarians themselves. But they might "feel" more like aqcuaitences to them. A lot of people might not realize it, but Aquarians often feel very lonely.

In fact, most Aquarian problems stem from (or are indeed) internal conflict. Deep down, Aquarians are very insecure. You think Virgo's are hard on themselves? Remember that Aquarius is Leo's opposite. So if Leos are bold and confident (and believe me, they are), what does that say about them?

I must say, to give this little insight from an actual Aquarian is the main reason I decided to write this. I've seen a few sites and books kind of suggest this, but none ever really delve into it. So uh... There you go.

In retrospect, perhaps this why they're so determined to save  the world. Maybe that's why they go out of their to help others, no matter how inconveniencing it is for them. Maybe, by doing for someone else, so that they don't feel that same sadness, they relieve some of their own. Maybe.

Now that the secret's out, let's move on to the more traditional stuff.

Aquarians are Air signs. There's something almost otherworldly about them. And that's something they take great pride in. The phrase "Dare to be different" comes to mind. Yes, sometimes an Aquarian will go out of their way to be quirky simply for the sake of being quirky! Nothing wrong with that; the world would be kind of boring if everyone was normal, wouldn't it?

Aquarians are also fixed signs. This means that you will not be able to sway them, they are right and that's that. Unless of course, you can prove them 100% wrong, in which case they'll apologize and thank you for your knowledge. But it'll take A LOT for you to succeed in doing this. On the flip side though, an Aquarian will never try to force his or her opinions on you. It's pretty much the golden rule in effect; treat others the way you want to be treated. An Aquarian would never want opinions forced on him or her, so why do it to others?

Saturn and Uranus Rule Aquarius.  Saturn is where Aquarians get their intellect from (As well as Capricorns), and Uranus is where they get their crrraziness from. It's... An interesting combination, to say the least. Saturn may also account for Aquarius' gloominess (on the inside, of course. God forbid they let anyone else in on their sad feels!)

As an Air sign, Aquarius' best matches (romantic and otherwise) are other Air signs - Libra and Gemini- and Fire signs -Leo, Sagittarius, and Aries-. Water signs have about a 60/40 percent chance, with the possibility of failure being on the 60%,  and Earth signs... I wouldn't recommend it.


As we draw to a close, I'd like to share some do's and don'ts when dealing with Aquarians. This can go for relationships, friendships, co-workers, and anything else you can think of.

Do:
Give their brains a workout : This doesn't mean mind games, per-se (unless you're a Virgo or Capricorn, you'll probably lose anyway). It just means... Make them think. Entertain them! An intelligent person will catch an Aquarian's eye faster than anything else. In fact, he or she might be willing to overlook other rather large flaws if you prove smart enough.

Be open minded : It's a little narcissistic, but Aquarians crave others like them. People who have their own opinions, but know that others may have different ones and are okay with that. Or if you really wanna knock their socks off, take interest in others opinions.

Give them space : Sometimes stuff get's too real for Aquarians. When this happens, rather than confronting the problem and possibly hurting your feelings, they may simply disappear for a while. Let them! They'll come back  when they're ready, which will likely a lot sooner than if you chased them.

Don't:

Try/Succeed in forcing them to do something : This may seem like kind of a "duh!" piece of advise. I mean, of course they don't like being told what to do! Who does? But I put this because Aquarians take their hatred of this to a level that no one else can even dream of matching.  Should you make this error, there will be hell to pay. Your Aquarian will turn angry, moody, and do just about anything they can to ruin whatever it is you're doing until you relent. And then they'll want an apology! It's really not fun seeing these sweethearts turn vicious, so avoid using force as much as you can.

Hold back in fear of shocking/offending them : Trust me, it takes a lot to catch an Aquarian off guard. And it takes even more to get them to admit it! In fact, I recommend going to them especially with your weird thoughts/questions/etc. They'll like have a surprising answer, and that can lead to a really fun conversation! And even on the off chance that you do offend them, all you to is say sorry. As long as you weren't a total prick and you don't do it repeatedly, they'll forgive you fairly quickly. Then you can move on!

Be mean : This means to them or others. Like being forced into things, Aquarians are extra-sensitive about this subject. They won't tolerate or associate with malicious people.
