Arthur clutched his chest. She… she was in love with someone else? He ran back to the house, trying to hold back tears of his own.
"Damn it," He cursed. "Just when I thought we could get along, she has to go and do something stupid like this!"
His heart continued to sink. But then something occurred to him…
Why was he so bothered by this? Just because she liked someone else didn't mean they couldn't be friends, right? And since he was with someone now, it wasn't like she could cheat on him. So why did it upset him that she had feelings for another man?
It was then that he realized he had fallen for ___________. God knows why, but he had. He loved that crazy, irritating, rude, wonderful, beautiful, incredible girl.
And she didn't love him.
His heart hurt even more as thought back on the earlier events of today, how she had lead him on. How dare she play with his emotions with that?! He punched a wall in anger.
"Damn her… damn her for making me feel this way…"
Back on her spot on the rock, _________ had stopped crying a lot sooner than she thought she would and was now just thinking things through.
The news of Alfred hurt her, no doubt. But strangely enough, her very first thought when she heard it was "Oh well, at least I have Arthur…"
When that thought crossed her mind, she knew. She knew that she had feelings for Arthur. And when she realized that, she became ecstatic. She could let go of Alfred and be with the man she married (against her will). Everything would be okay!
So now she sat, thinking about how she was going to tell him, or if she would even tell him at all. Maybe she should wait until he makes a move. Considering the incident that happened not too long ago, maybe it wouldn't be too long…
Either way, she was officially set to enjoy the rest of her time here, and the rest of her life with Arthur. With this in mind, she cheerily made her way back to their house.
"Hey Arthur, I'm back!" She called happily, not seeing him. She looked around the living room a little bit, still no sign of him.
"Arthur? Where are you?" She asked. No reply.
"Arthur? You're scaring me, can you please say something so I know you're okay?"
"I'm in here." A grumpy voice answered from their room.
___________ breathed a sigh of relief and made her way to the room, seeing a gloomy Arthur laying on the bed. She took a seat next to him.
"What's wrong?" She asked with a concerned look on her face. "Did you start feeling bad again?"
"You could say that." Was the venomous reply.
"Really? That's so weird…" She felt his forehead, causing his face to heat up. "You feel a little warm. Maybe you have a fever?"
She turned her head to side slightly. If he weren't so pissed at her, he'd have thought this was adorable. "How do you know?"
He turned his back to her. "I just know." He said.
"Well I don't think your hangover would've come back… unless you've been drinking again?"
"Pfft. I wish. I don't have the strength to do even that."
"What?" She asked, horrified. "Oh god, I got to figure out what's wrong with you really quick! Um… what should I do? What should I do? I know! I'll um… take you to a doctor! Yeah, we'll just have to leave early. My folks will understand, will yours?"
"No." He repeated.
"Why not?! You're their son!"
"I mean 'no, we're not going to the doctors.'" He mumbled
"But Arthur, something's wrong with you!"
"Nothing they can do about it."
"You don't know that!" She cried.
"Yeah I do!" He yelled, turning to face her again.
________ was getting pissed off now. "So what, are you like a medical expert now? Do you know about every disease known to man, huh?"
"No, but I know damn well what's wrong with me!"
"Then what is it?!"
Arthur paused, face turning bright red, heart pounding. "N-none of your bloody business!"
"I'm your wife; of course it's my business!"
"It's not if you don't even want to be my wife!"
Now it was _________'s turn to stare at him and blush. She did want to be his wife now, but she couldn't bring herself to say that. So he continued.
"Do you really want to know what's wrong with me, __________? I just realized not even an hour ago that I'm in love with you. And I only realized this… because I heard you talking to that git Alfred. And I saw how upset you were when you found out he had a girlfriend and I got jealous. THAT… that is how I found out I love you."
___________ continued to stare at him, mind on pause. He felt it too! He was in love with her too! But she hurt him… and now she wasn't sure what to do.
"What really hurts is the way you strung me along just now… making me think I had a chance. And then you go and do something stupid like this! You know what? Just… just get out of here!"
_________ took action here, but not the action he wanted. Instead she wrapped her arms around him and pressed her lips against his. Arthur felt his anger melt away as his eyes slowly closed and he kissed her back.
"I'm sorry… I'm so sorry…" She said in between kisses.
When the two finally parted, they stared at each other with big goofy smiles on their faces. But Arthur's was wiped away quickly.
"H-hey, if you're just trying to mess with me again…"
"I'm not, Arthur. The main reason I've been mean to you this whole time… the reason I've been treating you like crap, is because I had feelings for Alfred. And then I started to get feelings for you and that scared me, so I freaked out and pushed you away. But when Alfred told me he had a girlfriend, the first thing I thought about was you. I realized… I love you too."
Arthur stared at her as the smile came back to his face. He leaned and kissed her again, both of them feeling the same sparks as they did on their wedding.
