__________'s birthday eventually came to pass, and after several… "attempts", she and Arthur finally conceived a child! They were overjoyed to finally be on this magical journey together…
Right. Let's go on this trip with them, shall we?
Like any first time parents, these two searched far and wide for any information about pregnancy that they could. Here's what they found vs. what they experienced.
The first trimester of pregnancy is marked by an invisible — yet amazing — transformation. And it happens quickly. Hormones trigger your body to begin nourishing the baby even before tests and a physical exam can confirm the pregnancy. Knowing what physical and emotional changes to expect during the first trimester can help you face the months ahead with confidence.
Sounds like a heartwarming experience right? Wrong.
Arthur shuddered at the sound of _________ purging her breakfast for about the 3rd time today. How could she have anything left? He wasn't sure, but it was clear from the swirly mess in the porcelain bowl that she did, in fact, she still had plenty to share.
It's moments like these that _________ had no doubt Arthur loved her with all his heart. He didn't have to sit here next to her, one hand holding her (h/l), (h/c) hair up, the other patting her back comfortingly. But he did. And she loved him for it. She wasn't sure who had it worse, her for experiencing this, or him for having to deal with it. But if it was him, at least they'd be even when she had to have the baby.
There were also mood swings. One minute ______ was giddy, the next angry, the next in desperate need of Cymbalta. Combined with the dizziness, Arthur realized that pregnancy was kind of similar to being drunk. Fortunately she slept a lot so she didn't have much conscious time to switch.
There was one other thing…
"T-thanks again Arthur." ______ said weakly.
"No problem love." Arthur replied, with a smile as weak as her voice.
"Hey… can you get me some sauerkraut?"
Arthur face palmed. Damn cravings.
The second trimester of pregnancy often brings a renewed sense of well-being. The worst of the nausea has usually passed, and your baby isn't big enough to crowd your abdominal organs and make you uncomfortable. Yet dramatic pregnancy symptoms are on the horizon.
"Damn it!!!" ________ growled, failing to contain her breasts in her bra. "I do not want to buy new bras that I'll only wear for a few months!!"
"C-could you not scream stuff like that to the whole world?!" Arthur stuttered. He knew she was frustrated, but damn it, so was he. _________ had gone up 2 cup sizes and her new larger breasts were driving him crazy because he couldn't touch them. From they'd read, it'd be okay if they had sex; it wouldn't harm the baby. But __________ just wasn't in the mood. To Arthur, it was criminal.
________ was also beginning to show. It was subtle, but her belly was growing, bit by bit, day by day. This is the point when one could tell the baby's gender. ________ and Arthur decided against it, wanting it to be a surprise. Still, watching the development of their baby in the ultrasounds was a beautiful experience, almost reminiscent of what the first trimester promised.
The third trimester of pregnancy can be physically and emotionally challenging. Your baby's size and position might make it hard for you to get comfortable. You might be tired of pregnancy and eager to move on to the next stage. If you've been gearing up for your due date, you might be disappointed if it comes and goes uneventfully.
This was more or less pretty accurate. Emotional ups and downs marked this point. _________ was in a lot of pain just about everywhere, which caused her to be irritable a lot.
But then there were moments when things were calm, and she was eager to meet their little bundle of joy. Moments like when she felt the baby kick.
"Arthur! Come here!" She cried.
"The baby's kicking! Feel it!" She said excitedly, reaching out for his hand.
This had to have been the umpteenth time Arthur had felt the baby kick. But he shared in her joy each time. This time was no different as he reached out to touch her now large belly.
"You're right!" He said, feeling kind of dumb for not saying more, but this always left him at a loss for words.
"My little baby…" ______ cooed to her tummy. "I can't wait to hold you in my arms."
Moments like this made the emotional rollercoaster all worthwhile.
Finally, the day came. After hours of labor, screamed curses and "You did this to me"'s, _________ finally gave birth to a beautiful baby boy.
Any other time, a baby's cry causes it's parents either worry or annoyance. But that first cry, that first time hearing their baby's voice, it was like music to their ears.
"Let me hold him…" ______ requested in a hoarse voice. The nurse handed her the baby.
"Hi there. I'm your mommy." She said, happy tears falling down her face. The baby closed one eye and let out a "wah"
He closed the other eye and opened the closed one. "Wah"
Then he closed both eyes and let out a loud "WAHHHHHHHHHH!"
_______ whispered sweet nothings in her son's ears before handing him over to Arthur. He felt like he should say something, but he couldn't think of anything to say. All he could do was admire this beautiful creature that he and ________ made.
They decided to name their son _________ (sorry can't think of a name n_n. A few days later, the new family went home.
Arthur jokingly suggested giving _________ a sibling, but his wife was hearing none of that right now. It'd have to wait.
