So I'm sure you've heard the stories about Aquarius people. They're fun-loving, airy, a bit out of their minds.... Yeah, well, that stuff is all true! Well at least a little bit.

A person not from Japan, and with knowledge based solely on outside sources would hardly believe that your boyfriend Kiku Honda was its personification. To someone with a more moderate knowledge might say he was more like the country in the past. But honestly… He fits his place pretty well. I kind of guessed where this bit was coming in, but I wasn’t really sure.

I hate always having to defend him. Kiku knows how to have fun! He’s not always quiet and stuffy!  He just… Agh, it’s hard to explain.

There are two kinds of Aquarians in the world: the loud, sociable, party animal type, and the reserved, shy but sweet type. I've even seen a few hybrids. It doesn't really matter though, because beneath that they're fundamentally the same. Both are exceptionally smart, funny, big-hearted (perhaps to a fault) humanitarians.

Ah! There you go! Clearly Kiku was just the latter type. Perfectly normal! Or as normal as an Aquarian can be. And boy was he a sweetheart. He didn’t like physical contact too much, but he’d go out of his comfort zone every once in a while and give me a hug or kiss (both was asking too much; which makes either kind of awkward. But God bless him, he was trying). And he always had other subtle ways of showing me he loved me, like reading haikus to me, making/buying me things, etc.

Both are also likely to have a large circle of what others might call friends, perhaps even the Aquarians themselves. But they might "feel" more like acquaintances to them. A lot of people might not realize it, but Aquarians often feel very lonely.

Well… that just makes me sad. Kiku doesn’t have a HUGE group of friends, but just knowing even with his group he might still feel lonely makes me feel… I don’t know, guilty? And all that time he spent alone before that… I wonder if he really preferred that, or if he was just scared.

In fact, most Aquarian problems stem from (or are indeed) internal conflict. Deep down, Aquarians are very insecure. You think Virgo's are hard on themselves? Remember that Aquarius is Leo's opposite. So if Leos are bold and confident (and believe me, they are), what does that say about them?

It’s scary how things can click sometimes… I wonder if that’s why Japanese people are so polite. If that’s why it’s such a big deal.

Aquarians are Air signs. There's something almost otherworldly about them. And that's something they take great pride in. The phrase "Dare to be different" comes to mind. Yes, sometimes an Aquarian will go out of their way to be quirky simply for the sake of being quirky! Nothing wrong with that; the world would be kind of boring if everyone was normal, wouldn't it?

I laughed at this, temporarily losing my objectivity. Images of tentacles, vending machines with things that really shouldn’t be in vending machines, and every anime/manga I’ve ever read ran through my mind. Maybe Kiku himself wasn’t like that, but boy did his country have some colorful characters!
Unfortunately, I laughed a little too loud, and Kiku heard me. Curious, he made his way to my room.

“___________, what is so funny?” He asked?
I quickly shut my laptop. “Nothing!” I lied.
Kiku did not believe me, but I guess he was too busy or too unconcerned to push the issue any further. He left me and continued doing… Kiku stuff.

I sighed, relieved. Then I bookmarked the page (do people still do that?) and exited out.

I suppose we all have our little quirks.
